Mycophenolate (CellCept) is used along with other medicines to help prevent transplant organ rejection for patients who have got kidney, heart, and liver transplants. It is categorised as an immunosuppressive agents. It weakens the body's immune system so it will not attack the transplanted organ. It is also used to treat Crohn's disease. The medicine has another form Myfortic, which is absorbed differently than the medication CellCept. These cannot be considered as substitutes. Mycophenolate mofetil is an inactive form of mycophenolic acid MPA. MPA decreases the activity of the immune system by inhibiting the proliferation of immune cells that attack the transplanted organ.
