NEXAVAR DOSAGE

  • Nexavar is usually taken 2 times per day.
  • Take Nexavar on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
  • Swallow the whole tablet with water.
  • If you need surgery or dental work, tell the surgeon or dentist ahead of time that you are using Nexavar. You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time.

NEXAVAR PRECAUTIONS

  • Before starting Nexavar treatment, make sure you tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking.
  • Nexavar and certain other medicines can interact with each other and cause serious side effects.
  • Do not take aspirin, products containing aspirin unless your doctor specifically permits this.
  • Do not receive any kind of immunization or vaccination without your doctor’s approval while taking Nexavar.
  • For both men and women: Use contraceptives, and do not conceive a child (get pregnant) while taking Nexavar. Do not breast feed while taking Nexavar.

NEXAVAR SIDE EFFECTS

  • Rash
  • Hand-Foot Syndrome (Palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia or PPE) – skin rash, swelling, redness, pain and/or peeling of the skin on the palms of hands and soles of feet. Usually mild, starting 5-6 weeks after start of treatment. May require reductions in the dose of the medication.
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • High blood pressure (particularly in first 6 weeks of treatment)
  • Hair loss (thinning or patchy hair loss)
  • Nausea
  • Itching
  • Low white blood cell count. This could put you at increased risk for infection.
  • Poor appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Bleeding
  • Increased amylase/lipase blood counts
  • Low phosphorus level
  • Constipation
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Numbness, tingling or pain in hands and feet.
  • Low platelet count. This could increase your risk for bleeding

  • Black or tarry stools, or blood in your stools.
  • Blood in the urine.
  • Extreme fatigue (unable to carry on self-care activities).
  • Constipation unrelieved by laxative use.
  • Signs of infection such as redness or swelling, pain on swallowing, coughing up mucous, or painful urination.
